Marti MacGibbon Delivers Life Skills Trainings to Inmates at Ross County Jail

Last year, in 2017, Marti keynoted the Annual Chamber of Commerce Dinner in Chillicothe, Ohio. She also visited the jail and spoke to the inmates at the request of a staff mental health professional. Marti’s comeback story is one of overcoming drug addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder, domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, and human trafficking. She now holds five professional certifications in addiction treatment and is an expert in stress reduction, mindfulness meditation, and other life skills.

The conference is designed for substance abuse, mental health, psychology, criminal justice, human services and other healthcare professionals. It was held at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) Mary C. Nesbitt Biltmore Campus on May 3rd, 4th and 5th of 2017. Marti is author of two nationally award-winning memoirs, Never Give in to Fear: Laughing All the Way Up from Rock Bottom and Fierce, Funny, and Female: A Journey Through Middle America, the Texas Oil Field, and Standup Comedy.

Laff-Aholics Comedy Benefit for Recovery 2015 raised $11,450 dollars for our beneficiaries, Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation and Foundation for Court Promoted Recovery. Both beneficiaries are non-profits in Indianapolis that provide access to treatment for addiction and mental health services. Humorous inspirational speaker and standup comic Marti MacGibbon  is founder, producer and emcee of the annual event. One hundred percent of the profits from the show go to beneficiaries.

Laff-Aholics 2014 rocked the house! The October 4th show, at the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s Toby Theater, was the 4th annual standup comedy fundraiser, benefiting Pathway to Recovery and celebrating recovery from addiction. Founder and emcee Marti MacGibbon kicked off the show, killing with her own brand of high-energy, no-holds-barred standup comedy. Headliners Ritch Shydner and Rich Aronovitch thrilled the capacity audience, rocking the 540-seat auditorium with laughter.
