Marti MacGibbon, certified addiction treatment specialist, nationally acclaimed speaker and internationally recognized author, will speak to students at Holmes High School in Covington, KY. The event is part of the Taking Action Project created by freshman students under the direction of their social studies teacher, Mr. Brian Moore.
A team of students chose addiction as an issue they wish to confront using positive action, and they contacted Ms. MacGibbon, an expert on addiction and trauma resolution who has a personal story of overcoming hard-core drug addiction and PTSD. Marti is also a survivor of human trafficking, domestic violence, and homelessness who pulls from her own story to break away the stigma surrounding these things, and to educate and inspire others to create positive change.
Marti is not only inspirational. She’s funny: she has traveled the U.S. as a professional standup comic, and has performed at the world famous Comedy Store and Improv in Hollywood.
The event will consist of two consecutive presentations, 45 min. each in duration, and each talk will be followed by a 15-min. question and answer session.
NOTE: This event is not open to the public. For questions, contact Holmes High School Administration.
