Marti MacGibbon, humorous inspirational speaker and nationally award-winning author, will deliver the closing keynote at the Indiana Criminal Justice Association Fall Conference on October 7th, 2016. The conference will be held at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Indiana. Marti will deliver a high-energy presentation that is uplifting, entertaining and informative. She will also be doing two breakout sessions: one on building emotional resiliency, the other on the intersection of human trafficking, trauma and addiction. Afterward, she will be signing copies of her bestselling memoir, Never Give in to Fear: Laughing All the Way Up from Rock Bottom.
Ms. MacGibbon is an expert on addiction and trauma resolution who holds five professional certifications in her specialized field. She has triumphed over being trafficked to Tokyo and held prisoner by organized crime figures, domestic violence, adolescent sexual abuse/assault, homelessness, PTSD, and addiction. Today, she’s a national advocate for victims and survivors, and has lobbied at the White House, State Dept., OVC, and HHS. The Indiana Addictions Issues Coalition honored Marti with the 2015 Lifetime Addiction Recovery Advocate Award and the 2014 Recovery Advocate of the Year Award, for her work in reducing stigma surrounding addiction, domestic violence, mental health issues, and human trafficking.
